We are delighted to announce a new publication, in collaboration with Speech Pathology Australia, on diversity in the speech pathology workforce in response to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Diversity in the Australian speech-language pathology workforce: Addressing Sustainable Development Goals 3, 4, 8, and 10 draws on data collected for SPA as part of their 2021 national workforce survey which, using an intersectional perspective, invited respondents to describe their own experiences of diversity.

The results show that diversity is far more than ‘skin deep’, identifying a range of otherwise invisible perspectives and experiences, including neurodiversity, gender and sexuality, as well as a range of lived experiences—all of which create a far richer workforce which is frequently overlooked.
